Hi! I’m Miguel Sutedjo!

I am a musical theater writer, music director, pianist, actor, and educator. As an Indonesian American of Chinese descent, I aspire to tell stories that make people feel seen.

My full-length musical “Fly Me Away: An Asian American Jazz Musical”  was recently showcased in Carnegie Hall’s “United in Sound: America at 250” festival at the Museum of Chinese in America. I produced and released the show’s concept short film/singles to YouTube/streaming services. The second number, “Hustle,” was awarded a Songbyrd Demo Funding Grant.

My one-man musical “Happy to Be Here” had runs at Pan Asian Rep’s NuWorks Festival and The Makers Space. Other writing credits include “Mulan: A Children’s Musical” at the “Flowers in Changhua” Festival in Taiwan and “Theseus and Ariadne” at the Narni International Vocal Festival in Italy. With lyricist Andrea Trent, “Birch Academy: A 10-minute Musical” was showcased at the Spotlight New Works Festival.

Music Director of The Opening (Off-Broadway Premiere at Players Theater). Music Teaching Artist/Accompanist at the National Dance Institute. Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Taiwan ’23-’24.

Composer in BMI Musical Theater Advanced Workshop. BA in Music and International Political Economy with minors in Mandarin and English (summa cum laude) from Fordham University.

Mig-well Soo-tay-joe, when will you get a real job?
